Welcome back to our Employee Spotlight series, where we highlight members of the Tonkean team who exemplify the unique spirit of our company. This week, we’re featuring Victoria Gawronski, Head of Business Development and Enablement at Tonkean. Victoria manages the sales development team at Tonkean, as well as the sales enablement program. She’s also the proud parent of a 7-month-old yellow lab named Mac, who is adorable.

What brought you to Tonkean? What were you doing before Tonkean?

Before Tonkean, I had been working at an analytics startup. I started there as an SDR, progressed to an AE role, and then transitioned into my first management role. That’s actually where I met Ben Shipley, who just so happened to be Tonkean’s very first sales hire. Ever since Ben started at Tonkean, every time we would chat, he would be in my ear about how awesome Tonkean was. He would also drop, “We’re hiring, too…” pretty frequently. One day, I felt like I was ready for a new challenge and finally took him up on it!

Describe the work you do at Tonkean in a few sentences.

Today I wear two hats. My primary hat is managing our sales development team: doing everything I can to enable the SDRs to set meetings with enterprise companies. My other hat is managing our sales enablement program. This includes enablement for the entire sales team: Account Executives and SDRs.

Which Tonkean Core Value do you identify with most? Why?

Think people first! This sums up my approach to being a manager. A lot of what I do is figuring out how I can better advocate for the needs of my team and who I can partner with cross functionally to secure the support and resources they need to be successful.

How would you describe Tonkean culture? What’s it like working here? How about on the SDR team?

I would describe Tonkean’s culture as collaborative. Even with folks being spread across different states and countries, there’s not a single time that I’ve reached out for support from another team and been shut down. Our culture promotes teamwork and I feel very lucky to be a part of a company where people aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and lend a helping hand. The people here truly go above and beyond!

What should prospective/aspiring members of your team know about the team and about Tonkean?

Aspiring members should know that this next year is going to be a very exciting one for Tonkean. We’re a startup, so we experiment, we win, we fail, we iterate, and we learn. We’ve learned so much this past year as a company, and I’m excited to apply those learnings across our entire business.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Currently, I spend most of my time chasing my 7 month old puppy around. To keep him active (and away from the furniture), I spend a lot of time on walks and throwing frisbees at the dog park.
